Hedgehog
We had a special visitor at school... a hedgehog. It was all curled up in a ball sleeping because hedgehogs are nocturnal and wake up at night to eat. Look at its sharp claws for digging up worms. Its little feet are so gorgeous - they look like a little old man's feet!

Tigers, rhinos and otters
Ariana saw the tiger walking across the bridge and lying down. Alex saw it drinking for a long time. Isabella saw the rhinos head-butting each other, but they were just being gentle. Hayley saw the otter. It was eating a chicken leg because it was hungry. Tyler saw a cheetah. It has spots and it was sitting on a big piece of wood.
Does anyone know what sort of bird this is? Mrs Davies thinks it looks like a type of pigeon.
Tamarins, pandas and monkeys
Hayley saw some gold monkeys with fluffy fur, sitting on a piece of wood. They were golden tamarins. Isabella liked them because they were small and cute. Wilson saw a red panda sitting in a tree, and Mario saw a monkey swing down from one tree to another. Jason said it was a spider monkey, and he saw some swinging on trees and drinking water.

Alligators and flamingos

We saw two alligators hiding in the water. One alligator was sleeping under a heat lamp. We thought they didn't look real because they didn't move, but when we visited them again, the one under the lamp had moved. Maybe he was too hot. When we first saw the flamingos, we also thought they weren't real, because they were pink all over! Later we saw them moving around and finding food in the water. We found out that flamingos sleep standing on one leg with their heads tucked into their feathers like a pillow.
Riley saw a giraffe with long legs, a long neck and a black tongue. He thinks the giraffe's spots looked like a puzzle. Lucy said the giraffe had different shaped spots. We were very lucky, because at lunchtime, the zoo keepers took the elephant for a walk right past where we were sitting. Harrison said that the elephant was dirty and had a long trunk.
